LETTER TO SELF

Iyanuoluwani, I'm proud of the woman you're becoming. Spiritually, physically, financially, intellectually, dreams’ically , emotionally, psychologically, career’cally , relationships’cally … I'm oh so proud. I'm also glad you can proudly say "I'm the girl who God has helped". I do realise we don't speak to each other a lot in writing, so this is a bit awkward and so, I’ll just drive straight to the point: I often forget how pretty awesome I am. But don’t you ever forget how awesome  YOU  are. Be aware of your worth, your gifts and your strengths; constantly. You are a premium treat and you can't force everyone to have a fine taste, so even if one or two people ‘tend’ not to appreciate you, others do and you always should. Don't deny the world of your essence. Also remember you can never control what someone else does, you can only control your actions and reactions. You can be the very best, as in textbook perfect , but...

LEAVE GOOD BEHIND

First, I give it to MTN on this one. It's  disturbing how easy it is to get comfortable and just settle into the status quo. It is not a crime not to have gone to school; but if you remain the butt of every joke on social media every time you speak; after all the money you've made and all the important things you and family have been, then... *lips very sealed* I was speaking with my Aunt over the weekend and she was really harping on  how we have to see it as a responsibility to ourselves to be better versions of  ourselves. Constantly! Funnily, a similar conversation ensued between me and Mrs. E. (The Coolest HR ever liveth :)) at work on Monday.  She was gisting me about how disappointed she  was at the response a serving Senator of the Federal Republic gave at an  art exhibition recently. She said it gave her the impression that this Senator (who is seeking re-election, by the way),  might have been shouting yay or nay based on...
